Suicides is one of the most consistent surf spots on the island and due to its proximity to Naha, it is also one the most consistently crowded surf spots as well. Suicides is primarily a small wave venue has many peaks up and down the beach which helps to thin the crowds. Suicides is located just East of Cape Kyan in an area known as Komesu. The location is easily found by following Rt. 58 South past Naha Airport following on down through Itoman. Just past the Ryuukyuu Glass Factory look for a small traffic signal with a sign saying "Kompachu". Turn Right at this light and you will soon see all the surfers' cars parked on the side of the road. The reef is very shallow along this coast which limits the amount of time in the water. Generally speaking, most waves over head high will close-out and surfing during neap tides is sometimes out of the question. High tides of at least 170cm~ and swells from the East-Southeast are the ideal conditions for this surf spot. Suicides is a remote location, but can find small general stores for food and drinks.
